Embroidery Tips

Embroidery Tips

Sewing on Bridal Satin

  1. Smallest needle should be used and make it a sharp (65/9)
  2. Never use edge walk or zig zag  underlay, the  more needle penetrations the more your fabric will shred and run.
  3. Lighten up your density.  This fabric has an extremely high thread count per inch, and is not necessary to use a heavy density to keep stitches up. (4.1 pts and higher). Use 70 stitches per inch or less.
  4. Never use solvy or solu fab water-soluble film, this will water mark your fabric.
  5. Last use steam to press the fabric, never touch an iron to the fabric.
  6. Use Cover-up topping on top of the fabric to reduce the need for a high thread count and prevent the base fabric from showing through the lower density stitching.
  7. If you are using the original factory (old style 2 ring) hoop, then wrap the ring with a rubberized or low tack adhesive, to keep the fabric from slipping. With “HOOP IT ALL” it isn’t necessary, just finger press the fabric to the SIA backing.

Poly Mesh or Nylon Mesh Backing:

  • To avoid the unsightly patch of backing visible through the white or light knit shirt, try using this exceptional backing. Instead of cutaway, use two sheets of the Mesh backing placed in opposite directions. You will not be able to see the backing through the shirt. Or use DRY COVER UP to prevent any show-through from below the embroidery.
